Overview
AI Receptionist is a phone answering service for law firms. When a caller reaches the firm and a lawyer is unavailable, our AI assistant may send an SMS notification to the lawyer with the caller's message details. We may also send an SMS confirmation to the caller that their message was received.
How Consent Is Collected
For Law Firm Staff (Lawyers)
When a law firm administrator adds a lawyer to the AI Receptionist platform, they provide the lawyer's phone number for SMS notifications. By being added to the system, the lawyer consents to receive:
- New message notifications when a caller leaves a message
- Urgent call alerts
- System notifications related to their availability status
Lawyers can opt out at any time by requesting removal through their firm administrator, or by replying STOP to any message.
For Callers
When a caller dials the law firm's AI Receptionist number, an automated greeting informs them:
“You are speaking with an AI assistant and this call may be recorded. By continuing, you consent to these terms.”
If the caller chooses to leave a message, they may receive a one-time SMS confirmation that their message was delivered. By leaving a message and providing their phone number (via caller ID), they consent to this single confirmation message.

Lawyers
Frequency varies based on call volume. Typically 1 – 10 messages per day during business hours.
Callers
Maximum of 1 message per call interaction (delivery confirmation only).

Standard message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Check with your carrier for details about your text messaging plan.
Opting Out
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message. You can opt back in by replying START.
